Fue escrita en un sobre con membrete del hotel Queen Elizabeth de Montreal en 1969, cuando realizaron su famoso "Bed-In", para promover la paz mundial.
Dos chicos de 16 años pasaron a escondidas al hotel donde Lennon y Ono, recientemente casados, llevaban a cabo la protesta y se hicieron amigos de la pareja. Lennon le entregó a uno de ellos algunos recuerdos, incluyendo la letra, y le dijo: "algún día será de valor". Y TANTO !!!
